About 40 percent of Australians overestimate the amount of alcohol they can drink in a single sitting without exposing themselves to the risk of short-term harm according to a new report released today.
Were they to act on their drinking estimates, their likelihood of being involved in an accident or being injured increases; with fights, drink driving and unwanted sex all potential outcomes of their impaired ability to consider the consequences of their actions.
The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) report, funded by DrinkWise Australia, has DrinkWise calling on Australian adults to take the time to understand and apply the recommended drinking limits in the lead up to Christmas and New Year 2010/11.
