We congratulate the appointment of the Chair of DrinkWise Australia, the Hon Trish Worth, to the new advisory council for the Australian National Preventive Health Agency.

Acting Minister for Health and Ageing, the Hon Mark Butler MP, announced on 16 July 2011 the appointment of 10 expert members to a new Advisory Council for the Agency as another significant step forward for national health reform.

DrinkWise considers a whole-of community approach is likely to be more effective in tackling complex issues like alcohol misuse. The make up of the new Advisory Council recognises this and will lead the collaboration that is required between government, NGOs, public health experts and industry to successfully bring about generational change, so that drinking too young or too much is not desirable.
