Established in 2005 by the alcohol industry, DrinkWise Australia is an independent, not-for-profit organisation focused on promoting change towards a healthier and safer drinking culture in Australia.
Our activities aim to affect generational change in the way all Australians consume alcohol.
We also aim to increase the age that young Australians are first introduced to alcohol, as the evidence emerges of the impact that alcohol has on a developing adolescent brain.
We do this through the development and implementation of national information and education campaigns, with supporting practical resources that inform and support the community about alcohol use.
As an evidence-based organisation, DrinkWise relies on key independent research and clinical advice. The information supporting our campaigns and contained in this website have been gathered from authoritative studies and knowledge gained in consultation with experts in the fields of public health, neuroscience, epidemiology, and child and adolescent psychology.
The DrinkWise philosophy is founded on industry leadership and community partnerships. A sustained, multi-faceted and inclusive approach is required to support positive change.
DrinkWise Australia is governed by a board of seven community and six industry representatives. The structure of DrinkWise represents a unique opportunity to link the preventative health sector, community, industry, and government in achieving our objectives. The Board is supported by a small team who bring a range of knowledge and expertise from public health, education, government, business and the media.
